What’s a piece of hidden history from your country that you feel should be common knowledge?
@9L35NNV3mos3MO
Anything really should not be hidden history as we need to learn from our mistakes
@9L352PW3mos3MO
We were never taught in school that the Soviet Union was run by communists under the Bolshevik regime. This regime resulted in genocide of Christians and other religions in an attempt to ethnically cleanse the country and remove religion entirely. Over 20m people were killed in this. Not sure why this was never taught to us.
@9L355663mos3MO
I feel like there is a lot of hidden history with Native Americans that has not been in media, so their issues go unresolved and unnoticed.
The CIA and the FBI do not have clean hands in any sort of the word. I would love if the FOI act activated sooner and their matters to keep them in check.

How do you feel about the argument that some government information needs to remain secret to protect citizens?
@9JP7NRP4mos4MO
I feel that it is applicable to certain war information that the government knows will cause worry, however I think critical information should be shared with the public.
@9JPCMV64mos4MO
If the government can have our information for their data, we can have their information for our sake's. They are not above us just because of a plaque on their desk.
@9JP7J36Progressive 4mos4MO
It depends on what kind of information is hidden. Citizens should know important things.
@9JR78P94mos4MO
The government needs to tell people around the world what they are doing to let us know what is happening in this world.
@9JP87TN4mos4MO
The argument of some government info needs to remain a secret to protect citizens is a valid reason. Some information is needed to be kept away from public eyes to either prevent mass hysteria or unwanted mass stress.
the government belives that what is best for themselves with is sometimes best for the people
@ISIDEWITH5mos5MO

@9JHZJS7Independent4mos4MO
Everyone should be able to get any information they want except classified government information
@ISIDEWITH5mos5MO
If you were part of a government, under what circumstances, if any, would you keep information from the public?
@9J49C5SIndependent5mos5MO
If the event would cause immediate panic and violence in the streets
@9J49Y3YProgressive5mos5MO
If the information was unconfirmed, there would be no reason to share it.
@9J49S3V5mos5MO
If it caused panic and it had no concrete evidence to back it up.
@ISIDEWITH5mos5MO
What are the dangers of living in a society where the government controls all media outputs?
@9JJ26F94mos4MO
the government can censor all things that the current party disagrees with
@9JHZM7D4mos4MO
If the government controls everyth8ng we see, then it could be modulated to the public eye.
@9JHZLNP4mos4MO
It might become an almost dystopian society where we are greatly controlled and looked over by the government. Then there could also be some things hidden from us going on in other countries.
@ISIDEWITH6mos6MO
How would you feel if a piece of information you needed was kept from you by the government?
@9HH9BVF6mos6MO

@9HH9PYZ6mos6MO
I personally would pry at it until I get the answer.
@9HH9DJK6mos6MO
The government shouldn't be able to keep unclassified information away from public view.
@9HH96KS6mos6MO
This situation would be against my rights, the government shouldn't hold information from me.
@ISIDEWITH7mos7MO
What kind of information do you believe should be kept secret, if any?

@9H4ZNYHProgressive7mos7MO

@ISIDEWITH6mos6MO
How might complete transparency from the government affect national security?
@9HHTS59Republican6mos6MO

@ISIDEWITH5mos5MO
Can you think of a time when someone’s life could have been improved if they had access to certain information?
@ISIDEWITH7mos7MO
@ISIDEWITH5mos5MO
How does it affect your trust in the media when you find out they've been restricted from reporting certain information?
@9J44QF25mos5MO
It depends on what that type of information is. Some things are better to know later when there is more gathered information. Also if the information they’re restricted from spreading is untrue then it doesn’t effect much.
