Consumers in 16 US States cannot buy a new vehicle directly from the manufacturer. Instead, customers must buy new vehicles and get them serviced only through a franchised car dealership.
These ICE (internal combustion engine) dealers depend on service for their profits, not sales. Electric vehicles do not require as much maintenance as an ICE vehicle. This means that ICE dealers have an incentive to block competition for both sales, and service.
