The Pentagon plans to send Israel tens of thousands of 155mm artillery shells that had been designated for Ukraine from U.S. emergency stocks several months ago, three Israeli officials with knowledge of the situation tell Axios.
Why it matters: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israeli ministry of defense told their U.S. counterparts they urgently need artillery shells to prepare for a ground invasion in Gaza — and a potential escalation of the war by Hezbollah along the Israel-Lebanon border, Israeli officials say.
U.S. officials have suggested that diverting the shells from Ukraine to Israel would have no immediate impact on Ukraine's ability to fight against Russian troops.But it's unclear whether U.S. military supplies to Ukraine could be stretched if the Israel-Hamas war becomes a broader regional conflict.
Remember the war in Ukraine?
One of the major disadvantages Ukraine has had -- besides a lack of people willing and able to fight for it -- has been a massive artillery shortage.
The US had been working to get them more, but is now sending some of that to Israel instead.

Famous last words, “we can fight two wars a time” said double chin, (he was holding his forked tongue in)
All these countries at war. You’d think they would buy or manufacture their own weapons. Why do Americans have to pay for their wars?
@GrizzledCougarGreen7mos7MO
Wouldn’t this lead credence to the idea Russia had something to do with the festival slaughter?
Or maybe it’s just coincidence, but keeping the US focused on Israel benefits Russia.
This is why we should get involved in these blood feuds at all.
The war in Israel and Palestine is horrendous and it should end, as well as the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Its a tough situation, dealing with both the terrorist tendencies of Hamas while attempting to respect the human rights of their citicens

Does Israel not have enough of their own?
@9GCF69R7mos7MO
I don't exactly know as both conflicts are equally important
@BatJohn7mos7MO
What are we giving Israel $3 billion a year in money and weapons for if they need more at the first sign of a serious conflict?
@R3publicanClaireDemocrat7mos7MO
The Gaza Strip is 140sq miles. This equates to 70 Shells per square mile, per 10,000 shells. These shells are for more than just the Gaza Strip.
@Fr33SpeechMussel7mos7MO
This is terrible for Ukraine who are fighting Russian occupation. By deliberately choosing to arm the terrorist state of Israel at the cost of Ukraine, Biden has chosen to side with the occupiers rather than occupied, both in Middle-East and Eastern Europe.

I think that the us is getting involved in big mess

Just what Putin wanted.

If Israel goes into Gaza, it may be crossing a red line from which there may be no going back.

Heartbreaking; war is always heartbreaking.

We are stepping in because US citizens are affected at this point. Therefore to keep our position as a Global superpower, we must defend ourselves regardless of other politics.
@9GCF7SQProgressive7mos7MO
we should not be helping these countries as much as we are
@9GCKJH27mos7MO
I feel like the U.S. should not pick sides in their war.
@9GCJL2Z7mos7MO
It would've put America in a tight spot if we hadn't already given those weapons to Israel. I think this "holy war" has gone on for too long and it's time to let it run it's course. And that's without other countries support.

Nobody wants to hear about Trump.

The Christian Right is so aloof they will fund Ukraine right under their noses by using Israel
