It does seem like the auto companies may have no choice but to hire non-union employees in order to have a chance at survival based on the demands from the UAW.

The strikers prevent anyone from crossing the picket line. Especially new employees.

Ford and GM are probably happy. They will cut on useless workforce, they will say it's because they lost so much because of the strike. They will be the victims and not the bad one that cut jobs.

Doubt it. We'll see Unions grow over the coming years. Reason being Americans are being sold that its Patriotic to be a blue collar worker. All those people in blue collar jobs will want Union protection once they're wages start dropping.
