I think there has to be a middle ground, because on one hand big corporations can take that hit, smaller businesses would probably be the most harmed.

 @9HCMHRQ from Utah answered…5mos5MO

Yes. Many businesses cannot be trusted with environmental protection, and the government should be able to regulate them.

 @9HCKSZV from Georgia answered…5mos5MO

Yes, because without our environment remaining healthy and unpolluted, we will deal with enduring issues that prevent us from further growth and advancement as a society due to health issues, resources being used up, and our environment being destroyed.

 @9H7RVCD from New York answered…5mos5MO

Gov't should stay out of businesses unless relevant. It wouldn't make sense if the gov started controlling a restaurant full of its own tax payers. Who probably wouldn't be happy. The only regulations gov should be doing is "Wages" and maybe be a bit more strict on sanitation, employee safety, basic importance's.

 @9H9TLKH from Arizona answered…5mos5MO

Yes, I think the government needs to do a better job when it comes to protecting our environment because as years go on, the environment health gets worse

 @9H9RDMN from North Carolina answered…5mos5MO

Yes, They should control how much waste they can make. And how much material they need to make something.

 @9HBLKRJ from Georgia answered…5mos5MO

I do not believe that the government should regulate businesses even if it does protect the environment because this is not fair to the business themselves. The business works hard to make what they make, and the government shouldn't be able to lower their profits.

 @9HCHL3R from Georgia answered…5mos5MO

Yes because if they want the environment to stay healthy then they need to put laws in places to protect it.

 @9HB4GCD from California answered…5mos5MO

Yes, because at the end of the day, it is about the end goal. From an economic standpoint, higher profits are pointless if there is no more place to call home thanks to climate change.

 @9HCJH47 from California answered…5mos5MO

I would say in some cases yes, if the business is damaging the environment or the way things flow then yes it should get involved just a little bit.

 @9H9MBBFanswered…5mos5MO

Yes, according to the UN's generational equity concept, governments must take actions that both help them to prosper now, while also protecting future generations. I think this concept applies to the issue.

 @9HCF6NF from Massachusetts answered…5mos5MO

The government should regulate businesses as to not damage the environment, even if it affects profits.

 @9H9SLDM from Utah answered…5mos5MO

the government should have no role in the creation, management and finances of the nations businesses. businesses are privately owned and should stay that way. it allows for more opportunities for the people and allows every business to reach its fullest potential.

 @9H9QK35 from Indiana answered…5mos5MO

 @9H9NRVX from Georgia answered…5mos5MO

Yes, as long as the government does not take advantage of private businesses it is fine to regulate their environmental habits.

 @9HCJ9W8 from Arkansas answered…5mos5MO

Yes. Damage to the environment is actively hurting the citizens of the entire world, and is extremely important to regulate. From a moral standpoint, any corporation or person that would reject a loss to profits for the sake of the environment is ignorant at best and stubborn at worst.

 @9HDSLST from California answered…5mos5MO

 @9HBT27R from South Carolina answered…5mos5MO

Yes, the economy may face some spikes downward, but we have overcome them before, and the bigger issue is the survival of everyone on Earth.

 @9H9YG4V from California answered…5mos5MO

I think the government should be able to interveen with business if necessary but if not then no.

 @9HBKYV3Democrat from Louisiana answered…5mos5MO

It is the governments role to regulate business to protect the environment, but I dont think that it should mean lower profits.

 @9HDPCLT from North Carolina answered…5mos5MO

The Government needs to create regulation to protect public and private land. I see all pollutants which can cause harm to people and the environment as trash which has a cause and effect. We cannot allow companies to pollute any areas past their privately owned lands without paying for the ramifications.

 @9HBNDX9Republican from Missouri answered…5mos5MO

Yes I think the government should have a say in buisness protecting the enviornment.

 @9HBJ2HWanswered…5mos5MO

It is the role, because businesses do not protect the world directly. Evironment protection directly does.

 @9HBW76C  from Tennessee answered…5mos5MO

at a certain point yes. if the government can prove that a company is going to hurt the environment more than can be fixed then they should step in but blanket policies could disrupt smaller business

 @9HB2CC5Libertarian from California answered…5mos5MO

Yes, the environment can't be easily fixed. Once severe damage is done, that's that, although businesses will be short a couple dollars, the environment will be able to thrive.

 @9H9VPBJanswered…5mos5MO

Yes, because businesses are primarily focused on profit. In the long term, businesses will run the environment into the ground if it would make shareholders happy unless they are regulated properly by some outside force.

 @9HBSN67Independent from Indiana answered…5mos5MO

I'm sure they can find a way to have a good balance of both. They also could find a way that would only slightly lower the profits of the businesses or even send money or do something for them to make up for the loss

 @9HBL98X from Utah answered…5mos5MO

I believe that the government shouldn't involve itself with businesses unless needed, but should play a role in protecting the environment in other ways.

 @9HBVH33 from North Carolina answered…5mos5MO

It is the government's role to regulate business to protect the environment even if it means lower profits for those businesses

 @9HBT3Q8 from Nevada answered…5mos5MO

Yes because our environment comes first, if the earth is completely destroyed what are we supposed to do then

 @9HCJ4BQ from Florida answered…5mos5MO

Yes, profit does not matter if it only lasts for one human life span. We should be investing in our futures.

 @9H9V2JB from Arizona answered…5mos5MO

Yes it is, the government should be in charge of the big things like that, there are a lot of things the government needs to step up and fix

 @9HBJTW8Republicananswered…5mos5MO

No. Governments should not have control over business' spending due to it affect the buisness profit though I believe it should be limited if they over use thier power.

 @9HBWRPHRepublican from Missouri answered…5mos5MO

No, I do not believe the government should force any business to do something that could harm themselves unless it has good reason.

 @9HB4PJ7Socialist from Texas answered…5mos5MO

I think they should help to create barriers and laws to make sure the companies do not harm the environment or the people no matter what it does to their profits

 @9HCFZCY from Texas answered…5mos5MO

Major corporations should be heald accountable for the damage they commit to the environment and if they cannot accomodate to federal law then they should not be an American business.

 @9HBTKJRanswered…5mos5MO

Yes, to a certain extent. They shouldn't have the power to shut down a business but they should be able to fine businesses if they are not following certain guidelines.

 @9HBV4XT from Missouri answered…5mos5MO

I think that governments should only do regulating if it violates certain guidelines that they should be following.

 @8QMMB5MGreen  from Pennsylvania answered…5mos5MO

Absolutely. Profits are temporary, but Earth is forever!

 @9J7P9JQ from Utah agreed…3mos3MO

The environment is the only issue that has ever had such large consequences and it shouldn’t be anything but a priority

 @9HBXKDGanswered…5mos5MO

No, I do not think it should be the government's role to regulate businesses unless if it is a huge corporate business.

 @9H9RTWPPeace and Freedomanswered…5mos5MO

Yes, in the long run protecting the environment is more important than protecting and funding businesses.

 @9HCR4GVRepublican from Michigan answered…5mos5MO

I think that the government has the right to regulate just a little bit, making sure everything is correct and up to date with the business and that the products being sold are good for the public but other than that I think it is the business's responsibilty to take care of everything else.

 @9HBHY4Q from Indiana answered…5mos5MO

The government should have some important regulations for businesses to follow to protect the environment but not so many that the business feels micromanaged.

 @9HBJXVL from Texas answered…5mos5MO

I think there has to be a middle ground because on one hand big corporations can take that hit, and smaller businesses would probably be the most harmed.

 @9HBLXJ8 from Ohio answered…5mos5MO

The Government should provide limited regulations to ensure gross negligence and extreme or irreversible damage is minimized. However the Government should intervene minimally.

 @9H9S9BL from California answered…5mos5MO

Yes, buisnesses need to be held accountable and restricted on their infiltration to the natural world.
