 @9HGH77FLibertarian from Oklahoma answered…5mos5MO

They can have their own laws in their church, but they don't get to tell other people to do those rules as well just because they support them and think it's the right way.

 @9HKHQQD from Kansas answered…5mos5MO

No, as the Catholic Church is not a political organization. If the members of it want to have a say in political matters, they can vote just like the rest of us.

 @9HDTN82 from Michigan answered…5mos5MO

The American People should have the right to express their religion and should be able to have communities centered around a communal religion, but the Catholic Church should not have power over the government.

 @9HN3HRCfrom Maine answered…5mos5MO

No -- I don't believe any religion should have a say in political matters. Separation of Church and State exists for a reason.

 @9HFVH2G from Wisconsin answered…5mos5MO

No, its a religious institution, not a political one. Religious views should never be implemented into government decisions.

 @9HGFRZJLibertarian from North Carolina answered…5mos5MO

No, church and government shall stay separate. To apply the moral values of a holy book unto many others who do not have the same belief is cruel and unethical.

 @9HFKVH8 from California answered…5mos5MO

I believe no religion should have a say in anything political. Religious people go off their bible, and not the constitutional laws.

 @9HG745Ranswered…5mos5MO

No. The Catholic Church can make rules for people who follow their religion, but having a say in political matters is imposing their will upon people who do not follow their religion. Mandating that non-Catholics follow Catholicism-based laws violates the separation of church and state and is unethical.

 @9HFDFG4 from Maryland answered…5mos5MO

All groups are entitled to their opinions of politics, but it should not influence politics or politicians in their decisions.

 @9HFQ66Fanswered…5mos5MO

No, religion should not be able to impact people who don't even believe in it or even agree with it. According to the first amendment, the government can't endorses a religion anyway.

 @9HCT5KWanswered…5mos5MO

No individual should have an obligation to believe what a certain entity believes. The Catholic church should be separate from government, so should any religious entity.

 @9HDQNLG from Mississippi answered…5mos5MO

The Catholic Church is free to share their stances on local and global political matters, and governments and organizations should be able to take their stances as recommendations. But it should be nothing more than that, a recommendation.

 @9HFH8FTIndependent from Louisiana answered…5mos5MO

They should be allowed to voice their opinion but should not be allowed to force anything on anyone

 @9HG6TZ8 from Missouri answered…5mos5MO

 @9HGGXLL from Oregon answered…5mos5MO

There should always be a separation of church and state. Not everyone can be fairly represented if one religion is influencing the law.

 @9HDTR7GIndependent from Wisconsin answered…5mos5MO

No religion should ever have any say in political matters, end of discussion. Political power lies within the individual, if individuals would like to argue about policies then by all means they are free to. But allowing a conglomerate (especially one on the scale of the catholic church) to have a say in political matters is absolute lunacy and generally has no actual logic backing it, only being based on centuries old logic. Additionally the inaccuracies of the bible through the many many translations destroy it's own power and legitimacy as a source. And I say all of this as someone who grew up in a heavily catholic household.

 @9HDQKNX from Indiana answered…5mos5MO

No they shouldn't, I don't think that any church of any religion should get a hand in the government or education, it violates the right to pick our own religion and brainwashes the young, along with corrupting the government/ church.

 @9HKH7JQ from Arizona answered…5mos5MO

No, it is in our constitution to have freedom of religion as long as you don’t impose your beliefs on anyone or harm anyone. There should always be a separation of church and state to ensure freedom of everyone and to uphold our constitution.

 @9HKPZC7 from Texas answered…5mos5MO

 @9HJVK3HDemocratfrom Florida answered…5mos5MO

The church and politics are extremely different things. The church's purpose is to lead people on a religious path, and the government's is to make decisions that affect its people in the most positive way possible. They should not intertwine.

 @9HDMX5S from Wyoming answered…5mos5MO

Absolutely not. The first amendment itself proclaims that no religion will be held in higher regard than others, and they will not have influence over the government. Religion and government should stay separate, and that’s that.

 @9HG9HZX from Arkansas answered…5mos5MO
