How do you reconcile the desire for a strong leader with the need to maintain checks and balances in government?

A strong leader must do the right thing for the people who elected her or him. Be kind and respectful to all.

I think that a strong leader must abide by the constitution and checks and balances that come with it so they truly represent the people and in my eyes are stronger of a leader.
