In order to protect these minorities from violence, at the very least, they need to enforce legal protections for those minority groups. Gay marriage being allowed is the optimal method in the eyes of many, as it’s the solidification of their validity and safety in society, and tends to mean they should be treated equally, just as in every nation that has legalized gay marriage.
