Generally it should be puberty blockers and hormone therapy.
HOWEVER. some people are born intersex or with other medical concerns regarding their reproductive parts. In those cases, if it is required AND the child and parents agree, THEN surgical assistance is provided. The child's education and agreement on this topic are direly important. There are far, far, far too many stories about intersex children being given SRS without consent. Which is extra messed up when people say transgender children shouldn't have it done. It's very clear that all of this is about a gender status quo in society, not the individual. Medical care should focus on the individual. They are the one who lives in that body. They are the one being effected.
Gender Transitioning effects FAR more people than society realizes and no one's gender should be changed surgically or otherwise without their consent.
