Foreign Policy › Ukrainian Defense Funding
9>9 Personal answerThe US spends over 800 billion a year on its military. This is good. For a fraction of this yearly expenditure, Ukraine is completely halting the entirety of the Russian forces. This is good. If Russia captures Ukraine, Belarus will immediately be annexed as well and Europe will have a real threat on its border again. Russia needs to be halted in Ukraine. If Russia succeeds, Europe and the US need to give great attention to this threat. If we are to focus on China (in the future), Russia needs to be halted now or will remain to remain a thorn in our and Europe's side. This does not exclude Europe's primary responsibility. This is happening in Europe, Europe needs to do more also. |

Foreign Policy › United Nations
9>9 Personal answerThe world is decoupling. Globalization is soon to be over. We should try to keep international bodies like the UN alive to allow for dialogue, but it seems like we are returning to an era of great power competition. Not saying we should "remain" or "leave" the UN, but we should ask for how long the UN will remain functioning and relevant. We should prepare for a world where there is maybe no longer "international law", but only power backed up by military force. Let us hope "neutral" bodies where all countries can talk remain. |

Foreign Policy › Torture
9>9 Personal answerTerrorists are not protected by the Geneva Convention. Torture and humiliation tactics, however, deny one's basic and elemental human dignity. We should not torture and use humiliation tactics. That does not mean we cannot be "tough" during interrogations. |
Foreign Policy › Foreign Aid
9>9 Personal answerDecrease, and deny aid to countries that harbor or promote terrorism |
Science › GMO Labels
9>9 Personal answerRegardless, producers should not be allowed to patent foods |
Education › Universal Pre-K
9>9 Personal answerYes, as long as parents also have the option to send their child to private school |
Housing › Homeless Encampments
9>9 Personal answerNo |
Transportation › Public Transportation
9>9 Personal answerFundamentally, zoning laws lead to urban sprawl which in turn leads to cars being the only reasonable mode of transport. If you want bikes, buses, and trains you should change the zoning laws such that newly built towns and neighbourhoods are sufficiently dense to make bicycles and public transit valid modes of transport. You can't change the way we look at transport without setting up the fundamentals to allow for this. There is too much sprawl for public transit to work like it does in for example Europe. Either keep the current model or build cities like in Europe. |
Crime › Criminal Voting Rights
9>9 Personal answerYes |
the Environment › Plastic Product Ban
9>9 Personal answerNo, increase consumer incentives to recycle these products instead |
Foreign Policy › Terrorism
9>9 Personal answerTerrorists are not subject to the Geneva convention. This is very clear. However, if we are to be the "good guys", we need to ensure basic human dignity is respected. We should not lower ourselves to the standards of barbarism and terrorism. The concept of basic human dignity and basic human rights are something different than "constitutional" rights. They talk about different things. |
National Security › Foreign Assassination
9>9 Personal answerNo, they should be captured and given a fair trial |
Science › Space Exploration
9>9 Personal answerYes |
National Security › Mexican Drug Cartels
9>9 Personal answerYes, but only for operations within our country’s borders |
Foreign Policy › Cuba
9>9 Personal answerNo, lift the travel embargo but do not allow trade until Cuba becomes a democratic republic |
Foreign Policy › Two State Solution for Israel and Palestine
9>9 Personal answerIsrael repeatedly offered the Palestinian authorities a two-state solution, even including making East Jeruzalem the capital of a Palestinian state. This was always rejected by the Palestinian authorities because they wanted all Jews gone. Hamas had repeatedly said there will be many more October 7ths untill all Jews are dead or gone. Israel needs to root out Hamas from the Gaza strip. If Israel does not destroy Hamas, Hamas will attack again. If Israel fights back, the world blames Israel. Hamas' whole strategy is to hide between civilians. These are a war crimes, yet Israel is blamed for deaths. |
