How would you express the importance of traditional holidays to someone who’s unfamiliar with your culture?

 @9KNM77CProgressive from Texas answered…2mos2MO

Traditional holidays should be kept but not forced upon people, respect the changes of the future.

 @9KNM2Y3Women’s Equality from Oregon answered…2mos2MO

I think its important to have cultural holidays because you can avoid a lot of conflict and lack of understanding with peoples cultures who are different from yours. its always good to educate yourself about other people and try to get a mutual understanding

Culture is the soul of a vibrant society, expressed in the many ways we tell our stories, celebrate, remember the past, entertain ourselves and imagine the future. Our creative expression helps define who we are and helps us see the world through the eyes of others.

How does the language or dialect you speak at home connect you to your cultural identity?

 @9J27TP6 from Ohio answered…4mos4MO

 @9J278KP  from Illinois answered…4mos4MO

I speak one language; English. I haven't thought about what it means to me because everyone I know speaks it. I know language is power, and I wish I was good at learning languages because I want to talk to people and understand their life and experiences just how I could do it. In terms of cultural conservatism, I would say that the whole ideology doesn't have a stable argument, seeing as American Culture is a combination of Irish, German, English, Dutch, Italian, Polish, Scandinavian, Western African, Central American, and etc. cultures. Allowing people to speak their languages and share their culture with the always changing American culture is how this country has been, and trying to stop them has been equally tried and equally failed.

Yes, at my job when we would celebrate birthdays we would have food of different countries and realize how important to keep our culture. To keep in mind where we came from and show our next generation.

 @9KZLBXJanswered…2mos2MO

I can't think of any cultural practices other than holidays like Christmas or Thanksgiving. Even then, I feel a disconnect between some of my family and I.

Cultural conservatism is described as the protection of the cultural heritage of a nation state, or of a culture not defined by state boundaries. It is sometimes associated with criticism of multiculturalism, anti-immigration sentiment, and opposition to illegal immigration.

I believe schools should implements articles, even those that are translated, from other countries. It is important for us to be submerged in other cultures via their literature, values, customs, and traditions. I believe dedicated holidays and festivals are also an amazing way for people of the culture to feel at home, while unfamiliar people can become intertwined as well.
