The substance can stick to skin and cause potentially fatal burns and respiratory damage.
The Biden administration is “concerned” about Israel’s reported use of white phosphorus in Lebanon two months ago, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told reporters Monday.
“We’ve seen the reports, certainly concerned about that. We’ll be asking questions to try to learn a little bit more,” he told reporters.
Kirby’s comments follow an analysis by a journalist working for The Washington Post, who found remains of three 155-millimeter artillery rounds fired into Dheira, a small town near the border of Israel. White phosphorus can be used to obscure troop movement as the smoke falls haphazardly over an area.
But the chemical substance can also stick to skin and cause potentially fatal burns and respiratory damage. Its use could violate international law if its used intentionally as a weapon against civilians, according to the World Health Organization.Reports in October accused Israel of using white phosphorus in the area, and rights group Amnesty International said the matter should be investigated as a war crime. The Post reported that at least nine civilians were injured in the attack.

While Israel burns and dismembers Arabs in Palestine and Lebanon, the US continues the war machine’s endless supply of munitions to Israel, while ‘asking questions’.
Does the US really think the people of the Middle East and the global south don’t see through their blood-stained hypocrisy and feigning of concern?

Child deaths in wars:
Iraq: 3,100 in 14 years
Syria: 12,000 in 11 years
Yemen: 3,700 in 7 years
Ukraine: 520 in 21 months
Palestine: 10,000+ in 2 months.
Does the world condemn the killing of children or is it only some children?

Why would they use illumination munitions in a territory they are not present in on the ground. Doesn’t make sense. So far nearly all the white phosphorus claims from Lebanon and Gaza from HRW and others have been debunked.
@F1libusterEllaRepublican5mos5MO
This article clearly states that this is a smoke munition.
Amnesty is once again conflating smoke rounds with firebombing innocent villagers.81341.1K

I believe that Israel should not be given special treatment in regards to war crimes. They must obey the rules along with everyone else otherwise there will arise tyranny.

We should help Gaza instead of gossiping.

I think they're lying to us about certain things

I think that the United States needs to do all they can to protect Israel.
@9HKT2W65mos5MO
im not totally sure it just seems wrong in so many ways
@9HKQB2M5mos5MO
due to it being so inhumane to use white phosphorous
@RelievedLynxDemocrat5mos5MO
There are completely legitimate uses for White Phosphorous rounds on the battlefield, as a smoke generator to conceal movement from the enemy or to mark a target for artillery or air strikes.
When people say WP rounds harm people, I usually say, "Well, so do high explosives"
